Rowayton Library receives Japanese translated books ALA/Toyota grant
Posted on 03/17/2009
The Rowayton Library has received a collection of 50 translated books of modern Japanese fiction and non-fiction through a grant from the American Library Association. This collection is made possible -- in part--through the generosity of the Toyota Motor Corporation. The Rowayton Library is one of six libraries in Connecticut to receive this grant. The others include Canterbury, Franklin, Hartford, Suffield and Voluntown. The translated works of these award winning authors provides a great sampling of popular works from Japan in many genre- fiction, fantasy, mystery, horror, historical, Manga, etc. The nonfiction books provide insight into areas of Japanese history and culture. These books, translated and published through Vertical Publishing (distributed by Random House, Inc.) are now available at the Rowayton Library as part of a new collection and are available to all patrons. For more information or a complete listing of the collection, you can visit the Rowayton Library, located at 33 Highland Ave., Rowayton or on the Web at www.Rowayton.org.
