Vinyasa Yoga classes offered Tuesdays The New Canaan Nature Center offers Vinyasa Yoga classes every Tuesday morning at 9:15 a.m. The class is open to everyone and is held in the Sturgess Room and led by a Pryority Fitness instructor. Vinyasa Yoga is a practice that links one's breath and yoga postures to improve strength, flexibility, energy level and peace of mind. This is a rigorous, fast paced class that focuses on muscle toning, flexibility and strength. Please bring your own mat. Cost: $75 for five classes or $20 per class. Itsy Bitsy Yoga classes set on Mondays The New Canaan Nature Center is offering a new yoga class for toddlers 22 months to 4 years old with a parent/caregiver 9:30 to 10:15 a.m. Mondays, Feb. 22 to March 29. Itsy Bitsy Yoga combines unique toddler-friendly yoga poses with songs, stories and games to create an enriching experience. Each 45-minute class teaches yoga through social interaction, repetition and play. Yoga helps kids follow directions, relieve frustration, improve motor skills and increase attention span. Developed by Helen Garabedian, an Infant/Early Childhood Developmental Movement Educator, yoga teacher, and mom, this class is taught by Mary Moran, New Canaan Nature Center Early Childhood teacher. Cost for NCNC members is $70 for six classes and for non-members is $85 for six classes. Call (203) 966-9577 to register or sign up in the Visitor's Center. Helping teens battle eating disorders Lynn S. Grefe, CEO of National Eating Disorders Association (NEDA) will show a video about eating disorders and talk about NEDA's role in combating the disease from 7 to 8:30 p.m. on Feb. 4. Dr. Doug Bunnell, vice president and director of Outpatient Clinical Services at the Renfrew Center, will discuss the various eating disorders. A guest speaker will talk about her eating disorder battle and recovery. Grefe and Bunnell will discuss solutions and answer questions. Registration is recommended.
